Ida-Sophie Hegemann won the Ehrwald Trail at the Zugspitz Ultratrail (ZUT) 2024 last weekend over 86 km in 10:39:57 hours. The ZUT brought together almost 4,000 runners and is the biggest trail event in Germany.
After her victory at the Innsbruck Alpine Trail Festival over 110 kilometers, Ida-Sophie Hegemann was able to assert herself again at this year's Zugspitz Ultratrail (ZUT) powered by Ledlenser last weekend. She reached the finish line of the Ehrwald Trail over 86 kilometers in 10:39:57 hours, taking first place in the women's category.
The Ehrwald Trail started on Friday evening in Ehrwald and led through challenging terrain, snowfields and changing weather conditions around Germany's highest mountain.
"I fought my way through the night, taking Ruth Croft's split times from her overall victory in 2023 as a guide. From 4 a.m. onwards, I was able to really push myself - but I was positively surprised by finishing 30 minutes faster," commented Hegemann after her run.
Sandra Saitner from the Lowa Trail Racers took second place, about an hour behind, followed by Monika Pütz in third place.
The Zugspitz Ultratrail 2024, which took place from June 13 to 15, brought together almost 4,000 runners from 67 nations. With six different distances, the event offered a variety of challenges for the participants. A total of 3730 runners reached the finish line in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Organizer PLAN B announced the premiere of the ZUT100 in 2025, a new 100-mile race that will expand the existing routes of the Zugspitz Ultratrail.
